







MD or Doctor of Medicine is a study of different forms of diseases and causes of those diseases along with their effects. MD is a Postgraduate degree that can be done after one has completed MBBS with a mandatory 1-year internship. The study addresses main areas of research such as Anatomy, General Medicine, Radiotherapy, etc.
To study MD, candidates should have completed their MBBS from a recognized institute approved by ICMR. Also, candidates should have completed a 1-year mandatory internship.
Admissions in MD are done on the basis of scores obtained in entrance exams. In order to get admission in MD, candidates will have to get through any of the entrance exams – NEET PG, INICET, etc.
Some of the top colleges of MD are Grant Medical College, TATA Memorial Centre, AIIMS, Jamia Hamdard University, Maulana Azad Medical College, etc. The average fee may range around INR 1 Lakh.
Students who have completed MD are offered jobs with the roles of Medical Pathologists, General Physician, Bacteriologist, Anaesthesiologists, Chiropodist, etc. at some of the finest health institutions in India that include Hospitals, Research Labs, Pathology Lab, Pharmaceutical Companies, Educational Institutes, etc.
Admissions to MD are done on the basis of Entrance Tests. Some colleges conduct their own entrance exams such as AIIMS PG, JIPMER, etc. the common entrance exam in NEET PG whose score is acceptable in every college. Details of the MD admission process are discussed below.
